We propose a new structure to control the emission and the propagation of v
isible light: the graphite arrangement of parallel circular dielectric rods
in air. Using the Plane Wave Method and the Transfer Matrix Method, we sho
w that, for high air filling factors, the graphite photonic hand gap is sti
ll wide even for low dielectric constants of the semiconductor (epsilon = 8
). The dimensions of the graphite PC are large and should easily be etched
in wide gap semiconductors.
