Abstract
This study presents the effect of water content in moss turves from the Win dmill Islands, Wilkes Land, continental Antarctica on the composition of as sociated filamentous fungi. The two most prevalent mosses were sampled: Gri mmia antarctici and Bryum pseudotriquetrum. Results were expressed as dry w eights. No relationship was found between water content of the mosses or th e surrounding soil and fungal diversity. Ten species of fungi were recovere d and all species belong to cosmopolitan taxa.
