The paired-potential model of atomic interactions in diborides and hexabori
des of transition metals is considered The parameters of the Mie-Gruneisen,
Morse, Buckingham, and Rose potentials are determined and the E(V)- and P(
V)-diagrams of these compounds are calculated The critical characteristics
of the pressure and volume of the P(V)-diagrams, which determine the ultima
te strength in uniform tension and the corresponding critical elastic strai
n, are determined. Special features of the potentials and P(V)-diagrams of
the borides are discussed.
