Complexation in the gelatin-immobilized copper(II) hexacyanoferrate(II) mat
rices contacting aqueous alkaline solutions (pH 12.0) containing dithiooxam
ide H2N-C(S=)-C(=S)-NH2 and formaldehyde was studied. Under these condition
s, the template synthesis yields a 1 : 1 Cu(II) complex with chelating 2,8-
dithio-3,7-diaza-5-oxanonanedithioamide-1,9 ligand. In this complex, dithio
oxamide and formaldehyde function as ligsons. The scheme is suggested for t
he corresponding processes. Such a chelate compound cannot be prepared by t
he direct reaction between the known Cu(II) dithiooxamide complexes and for
maldehyde.
