A 45-year-old Moroccan woman was diagnosed with primary choriocarcinoma of
the cervix four months after a spontaneous abortion that had occurred 12 we
eks after the last menstrual period. She presented with vaginal bleeding an
d a red lump on the cervix that bled readily upon contact. Histology of a b
iopsy specimen confirmed the diagnosis. Investigations for tumor spread wer
e negative. Methotrexate and cyclophosphamide were dramatically effective.
The cervical tumor cleared completely after the first course and the serum
beta HCG levels returned to normal after the third course. Six courses were
,given in total.
