Abstract
Equations which give the minimum column length and the optimum inclination angle for enriching heavy water in thermal diffusion columns arranged in th e Frazier scheme are derived. Considerable savings in fixed and operating c harges result if columns are placed at the optimum angle instead of being p laced vertically. The savings are particularly significant for lower produc tion rate operations or cases in which a significant number of columns are used. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
