Abstract
The influence of formamide (F) and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) in drying an d firing of CdS nanocrystals in SiO2 glasses by a sol-gel method has been s tudied. It has been established that pore size distribution and surface are a are different with the use of DMF and that influences the quality of the final product, The presence of CdS semiconductor nanopacticles has been dem onstrated by transmission electronic microscopy (TEM), and the quantum conf inement affect due to the size of nanoparticles is denoted by a blue shift in the visible absorption spectra. From the results obtained in this paper, it is clear that DMF has an influence on final material microstructure.
