Abstract
A molecular dynamics method was used to study the interaction of isolated c ompression pulses with the (100) and (110) free surface in a copper monocry stallite. It is shown that this may be accompanied by cleavage fracture. Pa rameters of compression pulses which lead to cleavage processes are determi ned. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics.
