Abstract
Irradiation of alpha-iodo ketone in hexane under a nitrogen atmosphere with a high-pressure mercury lamp (lambda > 300 nm) at room temperature afforde d the corresponding alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones in good yield. This reac tion affords a new, clean and convenient synthetic method for the alpha,bet a-unsaturated ketone. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
