Abstract
Certification in infection control has been available since 1983. In this, the 15th anniversary of the Certified in Infection Control examination, it seems appropriate to examine how the program was developed, how it has evol ved, and future opportunities for Certification in Infection Control and Ep idemiology. This article was written to provide a brief history and an upda te on the current status of the Certified in Infection Control program.
