M. Wittmann et al., IMPACT OF THE POWER DELAY PROFILE SHAPE ON THE BIT ERROR RATE IN MOBILE RADIO SYSTEMS, IEEE transactions on vehicular technology, 46(2), 1997, pp. 329-339
In this paper, typical power delay profiles (PDP's) are simulated usin
g different digital modulation schemes in order to study the influence
of the PDP shape on the bit error rate (BER) performance of terrestri
al mobile radio communication systems, Therefore, a multitap channel m
odel with Rayleigh and lognormal fading is proposed, which is used for
a software simulation, The simulation is focused on the investigation
of typical details of the PDP as peaks, slope, attenuation, and dista
nce of a second group of waves, This yields information about the prop
erties, which have essential effects on the BER. Two of the most frequ
ently applied types of modulation schemes, 0.3 GMSK (coherent detectio
n) and pi/4 DQPSK, are considered.
