Abstract
Apsilochorema Ulmer, 1907 is a genus with an australasian distribution. A t otal of 50 species are known. 4 species are newly described: A. corymbosum n. sp. from Vietnam, A. nilgiri n, sp. from India, A. luzonicum n. sp. from the Philippines and A. agassizi n. sp, from Papua-New Guinea. A phylogenet ic analysis of the species revealed the existence of two distinct clades: A rchichorema n. subgen. and Apsilochorema sensu stricto. The main distinguis hing character is the absence/presence of a corema on the underside of the male forewing. A hypothesis is proposed which describes the evolution of th is trait. Three species groups were established in Archichorema n. subgen. and five species groups in Apsilochorema s.str. All nominal species and the ir distribution are listed. Two new synonyms are recognised. Six species re main unplaced.
