Sciarid flies were collected with net and yellow dishes in the western regi
on of Nepal (Gorkha District). The material was classified as belonging to
22 species in 11 genera. 14 species turned out to be new. They are drawn an
d described. The new species belong to the genera Leptosciarella (L. aspicu
losa), Scythropochroa (Scyth. diversispina), Cratyna (Cr. montuosa), Phytos
ciara (P. pseudohalterata), Bradysia (B. stupenda, B. loboriosa, B. semiruf
escens), Scatopsciara (Scat. crassispiculosa), Lycoriella (L. sordida) Cory
noptera (C. ioculatoria) and Keilbachia (K. acerspina, K. flagrispina, K. b
iflagrispina, K. flagria). A list of all identified species is given just a
s a discussion about the extension of these species proved in Nepal.
