IEC/TC 100/PT61966 prepared a draft standard describing a default KGB colou
r space-sRGB. The use of this colour space is intended if no information on
the colorimetric properties of the display is available. In this paper we
investigate what the general user of computer monitors can expect if no spe
cific information on the display characteristics are available and the IEC
sRGB colour space is used. Our investigations have shown that the most impo
rtant item was the difference in the white point of the single monitors, th
e chromaticity difference of the phosphors was of minor importance. (C) 199
