This paper is a continuing effort to develop a framework for an indicator s
ystem to measure Taipei's sustainability (Huang et al.[1]). In order to stu
dy the interactive behavior of sustainability indicators, an urban systems
model is developed which consists of six subsystems: land use, population,
transportation, water resources, solid waste, and waste water. In all, four
teen urban sustainability indicators are included in the model developed. U
sing Taipei as a case study area, STELLA software is used to simulate the c
hanges of indicators overtime. Three scenarios are formulated to study the
likely effects of different urban policies on Taipei's sustainability.
