Abstract
Biodegradation of carbofuran exposed to the action of aerobic microorganism s in activated sludges was monitored through the evolution of COD and speci fic HPLC analysis. Work followed the Zahn-Wellens/EMPA test protocol (Z-W) adopted by OECD. The maximun level of degradation after 28 days was 65.5 an d 55.9% according to COD and HPLC data, respectively. The BOD5/COD ratio ch anged from 0.0499 to 0.497 over the whole assay. Preliminary data for DOC a nd the COD/DOC ratio were also examined.
