Abstract
This paper deals with the numerical solution of two-dimensional (2-D) eddy- current problems. It shows that the numerical description of current-fed ma ssive conductors is closely related to the numerical description of voltage -fed thin wire coils. With the help of this result, a boundary element meth od-finite element method code originally designed to deal with thin-wire co ils could be applied to the optimization of a fast ferrite tuner (FFT), An FFT consists of a closed short-circuited strip line with an inner conductor covered by ferrites, The operating frequency of such a device is limited b y parasitic eddy currents. This problem can be overcome by slotting the str ip line. Numerical simulations have been performed to judge the effects of the slots.
