The Authors suggest: the determination of TC/TOC (Total Carbon/Total Organi
c Carbon) as a parameter useful to contribute to quality and process contro
l in a large number of different industrial processes.
Analyses were carried out on different solutions which represented "models"
of compounds of potential interest in industrial applications (hydroalcoho
lic solutions, solutions of the colouring agent E110, solutions of potassiu
m sorbate) with the purpose of verifying the possible use of one single ins
trumental parameter for monitoring the "concentrations". The results eviden
ced the possibility of using TC/TOC data for monitoring the "concentrations
" in process control. The use of TC/TOC data permits to refer to only one a
nalytical method for monitoring different critical points in a process.
Moreover there is the possibility of centralizing data concerning different
measures reducing in this way the cost of the upkeep and of the staff empl
oyed.
