Bacterial and protozoal infections

Several systemic bacterial diseases have significant orofacial manifestatio ns. Such manifestations include the streptococcal and staphylococcal exanth ematous conditions, sexually transmitted diseases, actinomycosis, tuberculo sis, and other less common conditions. Generally, the orofacial manifestati ons are similar to lesions at other sites and may occur alone or concurrent ly with lesions at other locations.
