Abstract
Results of the study of an effect of optically reflecting materials and coa tings on the light collection efficiency of scintillation counters with wav elength-shifting fibers are presented. A simple method for chemical modific ation of the polystyrene scintillator surface of any shape and size is deve loped. It is shown that the modified surface ensures light reflection and c ollection in the counters no smaller than those obtained with TYVEK synthet ic paper.
