Abstract
The complex conductivity reflects the charge hopping mechanism in the low frequency region. The conditions to appear the relaxation spectrum as H(tau) proportional to tau(a) are discussed based on the mechanism s of phonon-assisted hopping for highly stretchable polyacetylene (hs- PA) and interfibril-barrier hopping for Shirakawa-PA. The hopping (or relaxation) time, tau, is a function of hopping distance, r, and hoppi ng energy, E. When the distributions of r and E are independent and th e distribution of E is very narrow compared with that of r, isoenerget ic hopping appears. If tau is represented by a product of tau(r)(r) an d tau(E)(E), H(tau) is given by a function of tau/tau(E)(E-O) for isoe nergetic hopping, where E-O is a peak energy. The effect of temperatur e is included only in tau(E)(E-O) Using this result it can be shown th at the complex conductivity is reduced to a master curve if the averag e of tau(r)(r) is independent of temperature, which has been observed in hs-PA film.
