The results of field measurements and long-term observations at three High-
Mountain Cloud Chemistry Stations in Europe (Britain, Germany, and Poland)
characterized by different levels of air pollution are presented. It:was sh
own that different transport patterns of air masses, local meteorological f
actors and related microphysical conditions determine significant variation
s in the chemical composition of cloud water at the same place and during t
he same season. The total dissolved mass in the cloud water shows that the
level of pollution in Great Dun Fell (Britain) and at Brocken mountain (Ger
many) was markedly lower than at Szrenica mountain, which is located in the
"Black Triangle" area.
