Yi. Korenman et al., Conditions for bromination and gas-chromatographic determination of phenols in drinking water, J ANALYT CH, 54(12), 1999, pp. 1134-1138
The bromination of phenol, p-cresol, and chlorophenols in an aqueous soluti
on was studied for the subsequent determination of bromine derivatives by g
as chromatography with an electron-capture detector. The conditions for the
quantitative generation of bromine derivatives of phenols were found. Proc
edures for the identification and determination of phenol, p-cresol, 2-chlo
rophenol, 4-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol, 2,6-dichlorophenol, and 2,4,6
-trichlorophenol in drinking water were proposed. The analytical range was
0.05-100 mu g/L, the error was 5-25%, and the analysis time was 40 min.
