High-performance liquid chromatography using a combination of photometric,
fluorimetric, and diode-laser polarimetric detectors in series for the dete
rmination of (+)-quinidine and (-)-quinine was investigated. An RP-8 revers
ed-phase column and methanol-water (80 + 20, v/v) with 0.2% triethylamine a
s mobile phase at a flow rate of 1 mL/min were used. A dynamic range of 0-2
00 mu g for (+)-quinidine and (-)-quinine was established, with detection l
imits of 17.0 and 16.7 mu g, respectively. An application of this method in
spiked rabbit serum was developed.
