Primary tuberculosis of the posterior oropharyngeal wall

We report a case of primary tuberculosis of the posterior oropharyngeal wal l presenting with sore throat, fever and malaise. Pharyngeal tuberculosis i s rare and usually occurs with primary pulmonary disease. Primary disease h as been reported in small numbers in the nasopharynx and palatine tonsil bu t never before, to our knowledge, in the posterior oropharyngeal wall.
