A. Lanzara et al., Oxygen-isotope shift of the charge-stripe ordering temperature in La2-xSrxCuO4 from x-ray absorption spectroscopy, J PHYS-COND, 11(48), 1999, pp. L541-L546
A very large oxygen-isotope shift of the charge-stripe ordering temperature
in the high-temperature superconductors La2-xSrxCuO4 has been observed usi
ng x-ray absorption spectroscopy, a fast (similar to 10(-15) seconds) and l
ocal probe (similar to 5 Angstrom). Upon replacing O-16 with O-18, the char
ge-stripe ordering temperature in La1.94Sr0.06CuO4 increases from about 110
K to 180 K. The present results provide compelling evidence for a strong e
lectron-phonon interaction in this compound, and thus place important const
raints on the microscopic origin of the stripe formation.
