Abstract
This paper investigated the curing process and mechanical properties of pro tein based polymers made from soybeans. Soybean protein isolate mixed with additives was used to fabricate test specimens. First, the flow-curing prop erties of the soy-protein polymer were examined. Then, a curing procedure w as designed based upon test results. Finally, the mechanical properties of the cured protein polymer were investigated. The purpose of this research i s to design a manufacturing process that incorporates a protein polymer wit h high strength fibers? producing fiber-reinforced protein polymer composit es.
