Abstract
Paromomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that is poorly absorbed from th e gastrointestinal tract following oral administration. In cats with infectious enteritis, paromomycin may be absorbed across the i njured intestinal epithelium, resulting in acute renal failure and deafness . With fluid and supportive treatment, recovery of normal renal function is p ossible in cats that develop acute renal failure secondary to paromomycin a dministration.
