Abstract
Although rabies is rarely reported in rabbits, ail mammals, including rabbi ts, can be infected with the rabies virus. Rabbits usually develop the paralytic form of rabies. Early signs of rabies in rabbits may be nonspecific and include anorexia, fever, and lethargy. Currently, there is not a rabies vaccine approved for use in rabbits in the United States. Therefore, in rabies-enzootic areas, rabbit owners need to protect their pets from contact with wild animals.
