Abstract
Antemortem diagnosis of Sarcocystis neuroma infection in horses is suggeste d by detection of antibodies in the CSF in association with clinical signs. Postmortem diagnosis is made by identification of characteristic lesions in the CNS and immunohistochemical detection of organisms in the brain or spi nal cord. Transmission of infection of an S neurona-like organism in sea otters may i nvolve a definitive host ether than opossums.
