Distribution of cell wall-linked polyamines within the Gram-negative anaerobes of the subbranch Sporomusa belonging phylogenetically to Gram-positivetaxa

Cellular polyamines covalently linked in the anaerobes belonging to the Spo
romusa subbranch of Gram-positive taxa were analysed by high performance li
quid chromatography after acid extraction and acid hydrolysis of the cells.
Putrescine and/or cadaverine were widely distributed, as the covalently li
nked amines in their cell walls, within the major members of the subbranch
with Gram-negative cell walls, viz the genera Acetonema, Sporomusa, Megasph
aera, Selenomonas, Veillonella, Pectinatus, Dialister, Acidaminococcus, Zym
ophilus, Anaerovibrio and Propionispira. A part of cellular spermidine in a
ddition to the diamines was covalently linked in Selenomonas dianae, Seleno
monas infelix, Acidaminococcus fermentans and Propionispira arboris.
