Presented are the results of drilling mud lubricating properties studies. I
t is stat ed, that hydrophobic interactions and hydrophobic binding, occuri
ng in the layer of lubricating additive, chemosorptioned on metallic surfac
e, play a significant role in lubricating properties enhancement. Proposed
are a number of methods for the increase of hydrophobic degree and, accordi
ngly, enhancement of lubricating action of outer monolayer.
