Abstract
The relative efficiency of a channel electron multiplier for 2-9 keV electr ons was determined using the beta-spectra of vacuum evaporated Pu-241 and N i-63 sources. The results agreed within +/- 0.8% (1 sigma). Conversion elec tron measurements of Co-57 and Yb-169 supported the result. The electron sc attering and energy losses within the sources were taken into account by me ans of Monte Carlo simulations of individual elastic and inelastic collisio ns. The detector was calibrated in the same geometry as it works inside the cylindrical mirror analyzer. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights res erved.
