Abstract
The 150 male patients exposed to Thorotrast who were confirmed by a 1975-19 78 national survey with diagnostic X rays of 50,860 war-wounded soldiers we re followed up between 1979 and 1998 (Aichi series or second series). Age-a djusted rate ratios of deaths from all causes were 3.0 times higher in Thor otrast patients compared to controls; this was statistically significant. R ate ratios for liver cancer, liver cirrhosis and leukemia were 35.0, 7.5 an d 18.2, respectively. (C) 1999 by Radiation Research Society.
