Abstract
After electrochemical deposition, subsequent thermal annealing and high-cur rent pulsed electron beam (HCEB) treatment with melting and partial evapora tion, the binary systems Cr-Fe, Ni-Fe and Al-Fe have been analyzed. Dependi ng on the treatment regime, the formation of FeAl, Fe2Al5, FeAl3, Cr2O3, Cr O and FeNi phases has been found. The HCEB irradiation resulted in a decrea se or a total disappearance of oxides from the surfaces, an increase in mic rohardness and a decrease in the friction coefficient against steel.
