Abstract
A method of controlled pulsed heating of a quick-response probe placed in t he experimental material is developed. It is shown that the "temperature pl ateau" regime can be used to estimate the average lifetime of a polymer liq uid before its ebullition. A correlation was found between the slope of the curve of the lifetime versus the temperature on the plateau and the therma l stability of the material. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics.
