Abstract
We present highlights of BeppoSAX results on three galaxies, archetypical i n their respective classes: the two starburst galaxies NGC 253 and M82, and the LINER galaxy M81. The main observational results obtained are summariz ed, a most favored interpretation is proposed, and finally the main implica tions are briefly discussed.
