We present new Spanish norms for abject familiarity and rated age of acquis
ition for 140 pictures taken horn Snodgrass and Vanderwart (1980), together
with data on visual complexity, image agreement, name agreement, word leng
th (in syllables and phonemes), and five measures of word frequency. The pi
ctures were presented to a group of 64 Spanish subjects, and oral naming la
tencies were recorded. In a multiple regression analysis, age of acquisitio
n, object familiarity, name agreement, ward frequency, and word length made
significant independent contributions to predicting naming latency.
