The aim of the paper is to outline the fundamental characteristics and the
developments of the religious and philosophical thinking of S. S. Osusky, a
n influential Slovak theologian and philosopher of the first half of the 20
th century. Osusky was concerned with the history of philosophy and especia
lly Slovak philosophy. His ideas and conceptions were on the boundaries bet
ween philosophy and theology. He joined no particular intellectual stream,
but he made many references to T. G. Masaryk, H. Bergson and Russian ideali
sts and to the theologian E. Brunner.
