The paper focuses on the analogy between "the double-head" in Schiller's wr
itings and Bergson's "double-head" of religion and morals. The author's sug
gestion is that there is an intrinsic relation between the material and for
mal instinct in Schiller's conception and Bergson's static and dynamic reli
gions. In his view there is a certain analogy between the Nietzschean Appol
onian principle and Bergson's "fabulatory function" of reason. His conclusi
on is that this analogy is one of the reasons, why Bergson explores the pre
sence of nature in the works of art, and the necessity to search for it jus
t in them.
