Hj. Van De Straete et al., An efficient procedure for checking performance limits in servo drive selection and optimization, IEEE-A T M, 4(4), 1999, pp. 378-386
Many mechatronic systems involve complex motions resulting in highly dynami
c motor loads. Motor characteristics, such as rotor inertia, affect this mo
tor load, which makes the design and selection of the complete drive system
-consisting of motor, mechanical reducer, and converter-a huge combinatoria
l problem. The new approach presented in this paper separates the problem i
nto a feasibility and optimization phase, and normalizes it crith respect t
o the rotor inertia. This yields a fast and automated design procedure for
servo drive systems, giving more insight through a set of conveniently arra
nged graphs.
