Abstract
Seven measures of sustainable development for Scotland are examined for the period 1980-1993. These measures are green net national product, genuine s avings, ecological footprint, environmental space, human appropriation of n et primary production, the index of sustainable economic welfare and the ge nuine progress indicator. Very different messages concerning sustainable de velopment in Scotland emerge from these measures.
