Abstract
We present a spectroscopic overview of Cr3+ ions in (MCr)-Cr-1(MO4)(2) sche elites, a prospective crystals lasing in the infrared region, and new magne tic materials exhibiting antiferromagnetic ordering (M-1 = Li, Na, K, Cs an d M = Mo and W). The infrared, Raman, electronic absorption, and fluorescen ce measurements were conducted at temperatures ranging from 77 to 300 K. Th e ESR, magnetic susceptibility, and magnetic held dependence were studied i n the 4-300 It range and discussed in terms of Cr3+ ion properties in these compounds. The magnetic transitions are reported for all compounds studied . (C) 1999 Academic Press.
