Parental divorce and young adults' intimate relationships: Toward a new paradigm

Research examining linkages between parental divorce and young adults' inti mate relationships is critiqued in terms of approach and methodology. An in tegrative framework, which emphasizes children's agency, family conflict, l oss and renewal, is advanced as a means of interpreting the existing resear ch and developing new: projects. Finally, methodological recommendations ar e offered and a call is issued for researchers to include, or at least ackn owledge, the role of personal experience that shapes one's research agenda.
