Abstract
Two new saponins, 2 alpha, 3 alpha,19 alpha,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-O -beta-D-galactoside, and sitesterol alpha(1 -->3) diglucoside, were isolate d from the stem barks of Pteleopsis hylodendron along with a known triterpe noid, 2 alpha,3 beta,21 beta,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid, which was isolated for the first time from this plant. The structures of these co mpounds were elucidated with the help of spectroscopic studies. (C) 1999 El sevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
