Vb. Nazarov et al., Long-lived phosphorescence of aqueous solutions of beta-cyclodextrin complexes with naphthalene and its derivatives at room temperature, RUSS CHEM B, 48(10), 1999, pp. 1998-2000
A long-lived phosphorescence at room temperature (lifetime > 1 s) of aqueou
s solutions of beta-cyclodextrin complexes with naphthalene and its derivat
ives was found. The phosphorescence is observed for aggregated complexes th
at form in water a light-scattering suspension, and its low intensity is du
e to predomination of 2 : 2 complexes with efficient excimer fluorescence.
Complexes containing isolated aromatic molecules are assumed to be the cent
ers of fluorescence.
