Abstract
Starch digestion in the whole tract and in the reticulo-rumen of the rumina nt digestive tract is influenced by the level of dry matter intake (DMI) an d the type of starch. Therefore a database was pooled from the literature i n order to quantify these factors. An increase of 1% of the DMI per unit of live weight depressed starch digestibility in the rumen (-0.06 points) and also in the whole tract (-0.016 points). A decrease of the starch digestio n rate in the rumen also reduced its digestibility in the rumen and in the whole tract. However the factors considered had no influence on intestinal digestibility of by passed starch.
