A. Tuulmets et V. Pallin, REACTIONS OF PARTIALLY SOLVATED N-BUTYLMAGNESIUM CHLORIDE WITH DIISOPROPYL KETONE IN TOLUENE, Silicon, germanium, tin and lead compounds, 20(2), 1997, pp. 85-87
The ratios of yields of reduction and addition products for the title
reaction were determined at different diethyl ether contents in the Gr
ignard reagent, from zero addition up to the bisolvated reagent. The o
btained dependence appeared to be unexpectedly complicated. Contrary t
o the known effect of magnesium bromide addition, an enhanced magnesiu
m chloride content in the reagent suppresses the addition reaction. Pa
rtially solvated Grignard reagents can probably serve as tools for the
investigation of specific solvent effects.
