This paper presents the application of a hydrological model to the Saint-Ch
arles watershed, using available data. River flows are simulated with the c
onceptually based, distributed hydrological model CEQUEAU. River flows obta
ined from the CEQUEAU model are used as input data for a biochemical modell
ing study that is presented in a companion paper. The study was conducted i
n order Co determine the usefulness of an integrated modelling approach for
evaluation of a watershed hydro-biochemical condition. Reasonably good hyd
rological results were obtained for the rural portion of the watershed. Due
to the lack of available data in the non-rural subwatersheds, simulated ri
ver flows did not replicate observed flows. In addition to the lack of avai
lable data, these differences can be attributed to the influence of unconsi
dered water management practices and an oversimplification of urban hydrolo
gical processes.
