Abstract
The meaning of the term "logagogy" was elucidated, followed by an historica l outline of logagogic practices in the history of medicine. The traditiona l medicine of India, the Ayurveda, shows logagogic practises (sattvavajaya) . Not only the Ayurveda emphazises a philosophical approach in medicine but also the famous greek physician Galenus. The logagogic practices of Galenu s have their roots in the tradition of practical philosophy of the greek an tiquity. The most important greek schools of thought in connection with log agogic approaches were outlined. The Stoa created a rationalistic system th at emphazises the importance of the logos for human beings. Epicurus made a dvances for psychoeducation and cognitive reframing which are important for logagogic practices. The logagogic approaches of antiquity were cook up by philosophical counceling in a philosophical practice. The article closes b y an outline of a clinical logagogic.
